How To Add a Printer
- Find your printer's IP address by pressing the following: Additional Functions System Settings Network Settings TCP/IP Settings IP Address Settings
- Go to Drivers page (click here). Choose Canon and then Networked Office Systems.
- Select ".inf file" under imageRunners or Color imageRunners
- Save file to your desktop or other folder that you can find later
- Open the file to unzip it. Type c:\canon in the path and click unzip
- Click START MENU, find "Printer and Faxes" (May be under "Control Panel")
- Click ADD PRINTER and click NEXT
- Select LOCAL PRINTER (uncheck auto detect)
- Select CREATE A NEW PORT
- Select STANDARD TCP/IP PORT
- Click NEXT and type your printer's IP address
- Click NEXT and select HAVE DISK
- Browse to the folder that was unzipped
- Keep double clicking on sub folders (ex. PCL5) until you see the .inf file
- Select the .inf file and click OK
- Select your printer model from the list and click NEXT
- Select as default if it will be your main printer
How To Setup Scanning on Canon imageRunners
- Go to Start menu
- Go to Programs
- Look for Network Scangear. If it is there proceed to step 17. If not, go to step 4.
- Click here to go to Canon's Drivers and Download page (accessable through our Drivers page).
- Go to Canon Software and Utilities, then Canon Networked Utilities
- Download B/W Scangear for black and white copiers or color Scangear for color copiers
- Save to Desktop
- Double click the file you saved on your Desktop
- Browse to Desktop and unzip
- On your Desktop, double click the folder named English
- Double click folder named Disk1
- Double click Setup.exe
- Follow instructions to install scangear (No need to launch reed me file at end)
- Go to Start menu
- Go to Programs
- Go to Network Scangear
- Go to Scangear Tool
- Click Discover
- When it finishes searching, highlight the scanner it finds and click Select
- Click Exit
Now you are ready to scan.
- At the copier, place an original in the Document Feeder
- Press the Scan button
- Press Online
- Go back to your PC and open any program that allows you to acquire an image from a TWAIN Scanner. (For this exercise we will use Microsoft Word).
- Open Word
- Go to the Insert menu
- Select Picture
- Select "From Scanner or Camera"
- Make sure Network Scangear is selected in the box
- Click "Custom Insert"
- Click Scan button in upper left corner
- If you have no more originals to add to this document, click Cancel
How to Setup Addresses for Scan to File Folder
- At the copier press the Additional Function key
- Press Address Book Settings
- Press Register Address
- Press Register New Address
- Select File
- Change protocol to Windows SMB
- Press Name and type what you want this entry to appear as in the address book
- Press Browse
- Select Domain
- Select the computer name that contains the shared folder you want to use
- Enter Username & Password for that computer and press OK
- Select the shared folder you want to use and press OK
How to Setup Addresses for Scan to E-mail
- At the copier press the Additional Function key
- Press Address Book Settings
- Press Register Address
- Press Register New Address
- Select E-mail
- Press Name and type what you want this entry to appear as in the address book
- Press E-mail and type the email ddress
- Press OK
Both of these can be setup through the Remote User Interface by typing the IP address of the copier into your Web Browser. Once there you can click on the Address button on the left side of the screen to input addresses. The only limitation is you can't browse to the folder when setting up a folder address. You have to manually type in the host name and file path. Example: \\Server_name\scan_folder
